Drawing
The drawing technology allows manufacturing hollow pieces starting
from metal sheets or flat strips. Special matrixes and punches forge
the material into the desired shape.
Strip-fed progressive dies are used for dishing, otherwise disk-fed
or blank-fed compound dies are used.
Drawn pieces usually feature a low reduction in the thickness of
drawn parts and walls free of cracks, which are due to material
deformation, and high repeatability.
The use of suitably structured materials to be drawn, high-performance
lubricants, special surface coatings of matrixes and punches, as
well as a proper forging sequence and a high corporate know-how
are the fundamental elements of this major manufacturing process. |
